November is here, and at Growing Up Lulu, it’s the perfect time to embrace the cozy vibes of the season! With temperatures dropping and the holidays around the corner, we have a lineup of engaging events and projects designed just for you. Whether you're a knitting novice or a seasoned crocheter, this month brings fantastic opportunities to get cozy and crafty. So, grab your favorite mug of cocoa, settle into your favorite chair, and let’s explore what’s happening this November!
Special Workshops This Month
We’ve put together some exciting workshops this month that you won't want to miss! Whether you’re eager to boost your skills or try something brand new, there’s a class for everyone.
November 8, 15, and 22 from 4-7pm. Join us for a cozy and practical three-part class where you'll learn to knit socks using worsted weight yarn. Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your knitting skills, this class is perfect for creating a wearable pair of socks.
Then, on November 13th, participate in our Fiber Fun Day. Our friend, Andrea, will be here again to show you how to card and spin wool into yarn! If you are interested in spinning, carding and weaving, this is the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions and try. Order the Ashford products you've been wanting!
Jefferson Beer Supply is hosting us again at their location on November 10th. Two time slots are available so pick the one that works best for you. Learn how to make a mini macrame plant hanger! By the end of the workshop, you'll have new macrame skills and a lovely plant hanger that you can hang from your rearview mirror or anywhere you like.
All I want for my birthday is an Afghan in a Day! Join us to create a beautiful shop Afghan! Bring in a square (6" minimum) or make one in-store on the same day. We accept squares made with DK or Worsted Weight yarn. Let's celebrate my birthday together – thank you!
Charity Knitting and Crocheting
Throughout November, we’re channeling our energies into giving back with our Charity Knitting and Crocheting Campaign. We’re collecting handmade hats to donate to local shelters. Join us on Friday afternoons for special crafting sessions where we’ll knit and crochet for a cause together. Did you know that handmade items can make a big difference in the lives of those in need? Last year, we contributed over 60 knit hats to the Soup Kitchen, and this year, we hope to surpass that!
Holiday Shopping at Lulu's
With the holidays fast approaching, now is the perfect time to kickstart your holiday shopping. Our store is fully stocked with an array of fantastic yarns, essential tools, and unique gifts perfect for the knitters and crocheters on your list.
Small Business Expo is the perfect opportunity for you to discover local businesses. Do some Christmas shopping or get yourself something. This event is at the Siouxland Convention Center on November 7 from 4-7pm.
Don’t miss our Black Friday Sale on November 29th (10a-7p) and Small Business Saturday on November 30 (10a-6p), featuring discounts on select yarns and products. This is the ideal opportunity to stock up on supplies or find a thoughtful gift that shows how much you care. Remember, shopping local not only supports our community but also helps us continue bringing you amazing events all year long! We will have extended hours on those days since we will be closed on the 27th and 28th.
Maker Meet-Up
At Growing Up Lulu, we believe that community is at the heart of crafting. Join us for a Maker Meet-Up every Wednesday! This informal gathering offers a chance to showcase your projects, seek advice, or simply enjoy some company while you craft. Everyone is welcome.
